Since
1995 this artist has been pushing himself to the
limit day after day, trying to carve a spot for
himself in world of DJ's. His cousin originally
inspired him back in 1984, when at the age of
8 Joey was mesmerized by what he was doing. Finally,
11 years later, Joey saved enough money to buy
his first set of turntables and mixer.
Joey began his life as a DJ spinning old school
hip-hop and reggae, occasionally getting the chance
to spin at local block parties and, which meant
lugging all of his equipment from his house to
the party and then back home again. This went
on for about a year-and-a-half when Joey realized
that he was unsatisfied spinning hip-hop. Joey
wanted to move the crowd not only physically,
but emotionally as well.
During the summer of 1996, Joey went for the first
time to NYC's legendary Tunnel, a club known for
providing great music, and vibe. This changed
Joey immediately and he decided it was time to
move on. The following day he packed up every
hip-hop record he owned and concentrated all of
his energy into house music. Taking all of his
savings and buying every house record he could
find, he spend the next 2 years, day and night,
defining his style of house music and learning
the ins and outs of all of his records, so when
he got the chance he would be ready.
Gradually he got his chance, appearing at high
profile nightclubs such as NYC's Tunnel, Carbon
and Long Island's Industry. In the summer of 1998
he had his first appearance in Philadelphia at
Evolution, following by various gigs at Outer
Limits in NJ, Baja Beach Club and Paradise Alley
in Phila. He has appeared at Deco with Jonathan
Peters, toured with Russki-Razmer of Russia and
many other DJ's from around the world.
He now holds a new residency at Deco in Phila.
Quickly earning the respect of some of Phila's
top DJs, Joey spins every week for hundreds of
clubbers who come out every Thursday to hear Joey's
relentless mix of music. Hanging on to his every
beat, his 100% energy filled crowd stomps, claps
and whistles through his whole set, while chanting
his name and wondering where he'll take'em next.
The residency at DECO also gives Joey the chance
to play his own original productions and get to
see first hand how the crowd reacts to his own
music, giving him insight into what works and
what doesn't. Over the next couple of years this
hard working DJ/Producer is going to prove himself
to be one of the world top DJs.
